15 Days of Giving: Literacy Council of Middle Tennessee

The ability to read can literally change a life, and for today's Fifteen Days of Giving, we're happy to introduce the Literacy Council of Middle Tennessee!

The Literacy Council of Middle Tennessee (LCMT) was founded in 1983 (as the Literacy Council of Sumner County) with the mission of helping local adults learn to read and obtain a high school equivalency diploma.

As of 2020, the Literacy Council now provides free resources, counseling, and one-on-one tutoring to residents of all ages in order to enhance their academic skills in all areas.

Volunteers are the lifeblood of the LCMT! All volunteers are vetted, background checked with references required, and trained and equipped before being placed with a student. Continuing education workshops are offered throughout the year to all volunteers.
