Kids Love the Gallatin Public Library

Children’s programs at the Gallatin Public Library of Sumner County draw big crowds. If your family hasn’t discovered Gallatin’s hometown library, now is the time.

Read to the Listening Dog

Does your child get nervous when reading aloud? The Gallatin Public Library’s visiting Listening Dog can help. In this innovative program, children read aloud to Tashi, an incredibly soft and sweet Golden-Doodle and a Pet Partners-certified therapy dog. Tashi provides a supportive, non-judgmental audience for readers of all skill levels along with plenty of encouraging licks and nuzzles.

Fun for Kids of All Ages

Families come from miles around for Music with Ms. Shannon, a special class for preschoolers that meets every Tuesday. At Afterschool Crafternoon, school-aged children 12 and under have fun with crafts, experiments and activities! Other regularly scheduled events include Story Time, Lego Play Time, ABC Club, Wiggler’s Class, ABC Club, Homeschool Group, Be-Tween Homeschool, and Homeschool Hang. June and July are filled with exciting incentives for participation in the Summer Reading Program.

Gallatin Public Library: More Than Books

In addition to thousands of free books and movies for all ages, the Gallatin Public Library of Sumner County offers a wide range of interesting programs for adults. Play bingo on Wednesdays in the library’s upstairs bingo hall. Feel like an aristocrat on Friday afternoons during Tea Time while watching a British-themed movie or series. Relax and color your cares away on selected Tuesdays during Grown-up Coloring. Thursday night is game night for adults, with access to tabletop games, video games, and breakout games. If you’re an aspiring novelist, visit the Writer's Group on selected Saturdays with in-house author Jarrett McCall. Join a book club, learn to crochet, improve your computer skills, play bridge, attend book signings—you can do all of this and much more at the Gallatin Public Library! For more information about these and other events, call (615) 452-1722, visit, or go to the library’s Facebook page.
